Director, Business Development, Marketing and Outreach

Job Status: Permanent, Full-Time      

Reports to: President & CEO, Greensaver

Objective:  The Director of Business Development, Marketing and Outreach directs the business development activities of the organization and leads new business development, customer outreach and recruitment and drives new sales business for the company playing a key role in Greensaver’s bottom line.  He/she also oversees marketing and communications of the corporation.  Both B2B and B2C experience is preferred, as is the ability to think strategically and get results.  A positive track record with growing home services, energy efficiency business development and/or dealing with housing providers are all useful experiences.

Duties of the Director, Business Development, Marketing and Outreach include:

  • Responsible for the overall management of strategic and operational Marketing, Business Development and Sales and Outreach activities, both for the programmatic and the consumer business side
  • Develops and organizes new business development initiatives: initiates engagement with targeted accounts and leads the opportunity development process; develop opportunities from the first lead, until close; personally develops and converts opportunities with senior client and customer executives and leads RFP response processes
  • Manages sales, marketing & outreach for Greensaver services and/or products with a focus on both new business development and sales and outreach for existing clients/business
    • Overall management of sales, marketing and business development activities
    • Marketing and outreach activities designed to attract participants, support program delivery goals and implement corporate strategy
    • Sales management for individual programs to generate planned volume of leads and/or clients
    • Supporting sales and marketing activities of GHES (homeowner retrofits)
    • Oversight of management group which includes: Outreach and Sales Manager, Marketing Manager and Manager, Business Development
  • Works closely with the President & CEO to ensure strategic focus and alignment with organizational growth plans and targets.
  • Provides market feedback to Greensaver’s President & CEO regarding competitive offerings, prospect needs and generates business development ideas; planning and coordinating the implementation of business plans and the penetration of new markets
  • Works closely with peers and senior management to align sales, business development and marketing strategies and solutions: required to align appropriate sales opportunities to meet business and financial objectives and will be expected to know Greensaver customers’ business needs
  • In cooperation with human resources, manages recruitment, performance, training, coaching and development of the business development, outreach and marketing team(s)
  • Creates development plans and growth opportunities for direct reports
  • Directly works with key (current and potential) clients and identifies opportunities to partner with them to grow our business
  • Drives increased revenue and bottom line, in order to achieve Greensaver’s ambitious goals

Requirements of the role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/ MBA in business/ marketing or industry related fields
  • Over 7 years’ experience in a similar role, with demonstrated track record of success
  • Experience with the energy industry, especially energy conservation, utility programs, home services and responding to RFPs is considered a distinct advantage
  • Excellent negotiation and communications skills, with different stakeholders, and a proven track record of successfully acquiring new business, preferably in both B2B and B2C

Marketing Manager

Team Management

  • Provide leadership for the marketing team

Minimum Qualifications 

  • BS/MS degree in marketing or a related field

The Greener Homes Program is a new energy efficiency initiative by the Government of Canada, providing financial grants to homeowners for undertaking deep residential retrofits.  Greensaver is the Ontario leader in energy conservation programs with over 150 energy efficiency professionals helping families and small businesses achieve environmental energy efficiency for nearly 30 years.  If you have a relevant background to manage a program that will leverage Greensaver’s resources, partner with other businesses and provide services to consumers, please read further.

Objective:

The Greener Homes Manager is responsible for ensuring program success by acquiring new business through partnerships and increased participant enrollment, while achieving established program targets and performance indicators.   

Focused on developing and continuously improving program delivery efficiencies, the Greener Homes Manager monitors and reports on program delivery, assesses program strengths and identifies areas for improvement.

The successful Greener Homes Manager will have outstanding strategic, organizational and leadership abilities.

Greener Homes Management

  • Responsible for coordination of program delivery activities

Department Summary: Greensaver’s Energy Assessment Team is responsible for scheduling all evaluations for our energy conservation programs. We are the primary contact for all energy assessment scheduling inquiries, service issues or conflicts. We also provide exceptional customer service and manage the smooth day-to-day deployment of our internal and external advisors. Training

  • Assist Advisors in the training and adoption of energy saving measures identified during the energy
  • Work directly with Advisors to ensure assessments are completed properly and assist in re­

  • Create format, content, and documents for Advisor refresher sessions (quarterly or as required) to maintain quality of Advisors within the Greensaver

  • Provide support to team with regards to Advisor technical questions, comments, and issues on site and direct to appropriate departments as

Process Development/ Database Management

  • Ensure that the implementation of all new processes and updates are seamless

Data Management

Technical Salesperson, Insulation & Retrofit Services

Objective:  

This is a full time (permanent) position for a “Technical Sales Representative” who is responsible for  sales of insulation, air sealing and other building envelope services to homeowners and some  contractors. In house and on- site training is provided. There is good opportunity for advancement in  this growing division. 

Job Responsibilities: 

Insulation & Retrofit Services

  • Respond to sales leads; and actively “seek out” new quote opportunities 
  • Travel to sites to discuss customer needs, create solutions and perform estimations
  • Prepare detailed quotes for customers 
  • Follow up with customers to maximize quote conversions; and finalize “signed” contracts with  clients

  • Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction with Greensaver’s work product
  • Attend sales meetings as requested by Sales Manager 
  • Track all opportunities, quotes and sales in our CRM system 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years sales experience in the construction field 
  • Some knowledge of insulation, air sealing, ventilation and basic understanding of what  constitutes a “building envelope”, is required 
  • Post-secondary education in a related field, or a combination of education and relevant  experience 
  • Must be comfortable on ladders and entering “cramped” spaces (i.e,. crawlspaces and attics)  during site visits 
  • Good negotiation skills 
  • Must have own vehicle 
  • Solid computer skills 
  • Must be able to work from home (at times) 
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Superior interpersonal and problem-solving skills 
  • Experience in the insulation sales is an asset 
  • Experience with Greensaver’s relevant software applications is considered an asset 
  • Experience as a home energy advisor is an asset 

Compensation: 

Compensation consists of Base annual salary, car allowance, cell phone, lap top, commission, and full  company benefits (consisting of regular benefits and Greensaver’s EcoBenefits).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Residential insulation, including but not limited to the following:
    • Attic insulation
    • Flat roof insulation
    • Slope insulation
    • Basement insulation
    • Wall insulation with cellulose and foam
    • Exterior wall air barrier and insulation systems
    • Air sealing, including weather-stripping on doors
  • Measure and cut insulating materials and coverings to the required shape and dimension
  • Remove insulation and debris from homes
  • Complete job preparation as required
  • Promptly communicate updates or hazards to the appropriate parties, most importantly your supervisor and the homeowner or contractor
  • Complete the tracking sheets for all jobs daily and on time
  • Create a safe and clean work environment, including but not limited to: the work vehicle, jobsite, warehouse, etc
  • Take photos of the entire job, including before and after photos, pre-existing damages, or potential issues
  • Retrieve the appropriate signatures from the clients, depending on the job
  • Other duties as requested and assigned by the Operations Manager, Retrofit or Retrofit Supervisor
  • Commercial projects, including but not limited to the following:
  • Air barrier systems and transition membranes
  • Interior or exterior insulation installation

Physical Activity Description:

Physical activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Physical requirements: Manual dexterity, standing for extended periods; bending, crouching, kneeling, standing with weight
  • Climbing up and down stairs in houses and on trucks and crawling into crawl spaces
  • Pulling, pushing and torso twisting movements to transfer materials from truck
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying of insulation with weight up to 50 pounds
  • Working in cold, hot, and humid conditions
  • Working at heights

  • Valid Drivers License
