Plant with us

Greensaver partnered with the City of Mississauga and its One Million Trees Initiative to celebrate Board member and former Mississauga Mayor Hazel
McCallion’s 100th birthday. Hazel was instrumental in launching this program which is aimed to conserve and enhance the City’s open spaces and forested areas for future generations to enjoy. Trees will be planted by City staff, partners and volunteers on public and private property. Residents who plant a tree on their private residential property can add it to our tree planting total and have it count towards our One Million Trees goal.

Goal to plant 1 million trees by 2032

“Greensaver’s Board and staff realized the most impactful way to celebrate Hazel’s contributions to our mission is to plant one tree to mark each year of her extraordinary life. In addition to Hazel’s work in her community, Hazel has made a huge contribution to Greensaver through her wealth of experience and strategic leadership on our Board of Directors.”

In her honour, our team planted 100 trees in partnership with the One Million Trees Mississauga program she helped launch. The site was marked with a commemorative plaque for “The Hazel McCallion Centennial Greensaver Conservation site”.

As Mayor and in her private life, Hazel McCallion championed the environment and was instrumental in launching One Million Trees Mississauga, with a goal to plant a million trees in the city by 2032. The Mayor of Mississauga Bonnie Crombie said: “I’m so pleased that Greensaver and the City of Mississauga are honouring Hazel’s contribution to the environment.
